Traditional Pesto Recipe

I’m a big fan of pesto, largely because it’s such a versatile condiment. Slather it on fish, a crusty slice of sourdough, or roasted root vegetables, or swirl it in soup. Want it more garlicky? Add a couple more cloves to the mix. Want a cheesy taste without the dairy? Drop-in an extra ½ tablespoon of nutritional yeast. Pesto is the type of spread you can make all your own.

    Step 1

    Combine the basil, parsley, garlic, pine nuts, olive oil, nutritional yeast, and lemon juice in a blender and blend for 2 minutes or until smooth. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
