Perfect Fried Shrimp Recipe

Perfect Fried Shrimp: There really is nothing better than a crispy, crunchy batch of fried shrimp. This simple, no-fuss recipe is ideal when that salty craving hits. If you like, you can easily dress up the flavors by adding your preferred spices, such as pimento, paprika, or more pepper. Depending on the size of your shrimp, you may have to adapt your cooking duration. Serve these lil’ poppers in a PO’ boy, taco, or just enjoy them straight up.


Perfect Fried Shrimp


    Step 1

    Spill oil to a depth of 2 inches in a large, deep skillet; heating over medium-high to 370°F. When oil heats, mix together eggs, milk, and hot sauce in a shallow dish; add shrimp to the mixing, and stir to coat. Mix together flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper in an independent empty dish.

    Step 2

    Pull out 6 to 8 shrimp from egg mix, shaking surplus off; drag in flour mixture. Place dredged shrimp in heated oil; fry until coating is golden and crunchy, about 2 minutes. Pull out with a slotted spoon to a baking sheet lined with paper towels. Renew with remaining shrimp, bringing oil back to 370°F over medium-high heat previously adding each batch of shrimp.

    Step 3

    Serve the fried shrimp with cocktail sauce, lemon wedges, and rémoulade, if desired.
